Blue Fins Frost Fest goes this weekend

The Williams Lake Blue Fins Swim Club hosts Frost Fest this weekend at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool.

The warm weather appears to have ceased, for now, and that’s good news for the Williams Lake Blue Fins who, this Saturday and Sunday, host its aptly named Frost Fest home swim meet.

All day Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. swimmers from throughout Williams Lake, Quesnel and Prince George will converge at the Sam Ketcham Memorial Pool for the meet.

Blue Fins president Dale Taylor said the club is expecting about 20 swimmers from Prince George and another 30 from Quesnel.

“Add that to our swimmers and it’ll be a big meet with more out of towners than in previous years,” he said.

The meet will feature individual, relay and team events.

Following Frost Fest the club heads to Kamloops for a meet Feb. 4, and will then gear up for the short course AA Provincials, being held this year at Chilliwack’s Chilliwack Liesure Centre from Feb. 10-12.
