It was a family affair in the Kootenays as Vernon BMX riders raced with a trip to provincials on the line.

Cameron Jones won silver in the 15 experts and his mother Brenda finished third in the women cruisers.
Jennifer Bitz raced the men and placed fourth, while her son Xavier raced the 11 expert and placed second.
The Riddick siblings finished it up with Jadon getting fourth in 15 expert, Faith placing third in 12 girls and Hanya earning fifth.
Sunday drew out more riders to Grand Forks, and after a few bumps and bruises the club had a great showing.
Travis Sargent was racing 15 intermediate and recorded second.
The Mellors have a pair of elite riders in their clan. Kaylee won the half track race and Bryce finished third in the novice race, while the Riddick family brought home a trio of bronzes.
Brothers Lewis, 11, and eight year-old Toby Harmon captured silver in their intermediate races.
Shylo Orchard continues her strong season with another win in ladies cruiser, while Grady Krause competed in the seven expert and finished third.
Other finishes saw Toran Edwards place fourth in the six intermediates, Jacob Plank sniped silver in 11 expert, Korbin Davies won the 10 intermediate and Taran Tepper raced as a half tracker and finished fourth.
Provincials take place at the end of August in Victoria.
Local racing at Ranger Park goes Tuesday nights through Sept. 14. Registration goes from 5:45-6:30 followed by single-point racing.
