The L.V. Rogers Bombers came achingly close to defending their provincial rugby title.
The Bombers were moments from victory with a 13-12 lead over Victoria’s Glenlyon Norfolk Gryphons in the AA final of the B.C. Secondary Schools Rugby Union provincials in Abbotsford on Saturday. But with a minute left the opposition ran the length of the field to score a try and stun the Bombers 17-13.
LVR had previously hammered D.W. Poppy 24-5 in the quarter-final before booking a ticket to the championship with a 22-17 win over Seycove.
Michael Caldecott was selected from the Bombers to the Commissioner’s 15 team.
