Mother Nature made for an interesting, yet action-packed night of racing at Saratoga Speedway Saturday, featuring the Hornet Cars, Bomber cars and the I.M.C.A Modifieds.
In the Bomber car class, it was the battle of the Larsons, as Darrel and Nephew Boston would battle once again, but this time around it would be Boston who got the upper hand on his Uncle, taking home the win in the heat and their main event.
The Modified class saw Stewart Lee dominate the night.
Lee, who has raced almost every class of car you can drive, found himself behind the wheel of Jeff May’s car for the first time ever and he would not disappoint, taking home the Dash win, one of two heat race wins and leading all 35 laps of what was one of the best Modified main events the track has seen in years, holding off veteran drivers Chris Beaulieu and Travis Stevenson who gave him a very tough run for his money to complete his sweep in the Modified class.
Finally, not to be outdone, the Hornet cars put on a great show of their own.
Heat race action saw wins go to Chris Hleck, Darcy McKenzie, Wesley Pheaton, Nigel Neufeld, and Ashley White.
Over 20 cars entered into a tight 30 lap B-main which saw Clancey Beamish – while celebrating his 15th Birthday – jump into the lead on lap three and he would not be touched from there, pulling away to take home his second straight main event win.
In the 25 lap A main, Brian Salis found himself in a battle with Neufeld and Raymond Fortier. Salis would wait patiently in third until he found his way around on the outside and he would take over the lead on lap 13 and he would not look back from there, taking home his first ever main event win.
Extra laps…Next weekend Saratoga will host an Island Bomber Car Invitational. Cars from across the Island will make their way down to battle for points at Western Speedway, and with over 20 cars in their points race, many will be making their way down for the race.
The Galaxy Motors Mad Max cars will also be on the card, with the Roadrunners and I.M.C.A Modifieds rounding out the night, with Upland Excavating sponsoring the night of fun at Saratoga Speedway.
