Gwyn Bowen celebrated her birthday in style at Alberni Golf Club on Tuesday (Aug. 4), winning low net honours with a 71 in the ladies’ 18-hole golf league.
In the nine-hole low handicap group Marta Williamson won low gross, Kath Stolth won low net and Julie Swaney had the lowest putts.
For the high handicap group Carol Jaworski won low gross and Betty Adair won low net, there was a four-way tie for the lowest putts between Marj Dufour, Pat Dahlquist, Lorraine Wilson and Carol Jaworski.
Pars were had by Kath Stolth on No. 14 and No. 18, Sandra Simpson on No. 14, Marta Williamson on No. 11 and Lee Anne Van Lent on No. 14 and No. 18.
Chip-ins went to Swaney on No. 15, Stolth on No. 11 Van Lent on No. 18 and Jaworski on No. 10.
For the 18-hole ladies, Carol Bouchard won low gross with an 88. There was a three way tie for Monthly Medal, and after retrogression was done Barb Sheare was declared the winner.
In the closest to the pin challenge Gayle Rhodes won on No. 1 and Sheare won on No. 15. The special prize went to Patsy Gauthier.
Pat Nicklin held the challenge pin, Kathy White challenged and won. Marie Randall will challenge White next week.
Next week will be the second and final game of the 18-hole ladies Club Championship.
