Madison Bowey scored twice as the Kelowna Rockets brushed off the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 in Western Hockey League play Saturday night at Prospera Place.

The Rockets extended their winning streak to nine in front of 5,270 fans. They visited the Seattle Thunderbirds Tuesday night and entertain the Victoria Royals tonight.

Bowey scored two third-period goals to give Kelowna a 4-1 lead and what appeared to be a strangle-hold on the game. However Medicine Hat trimmed the Rockets lead to one in less than a minute with Miles Koules (shorthanded) and Ty Stanton clicking.

Vernon product Cole Sanford, with his 14th of the season, gave the Tigers the lead at 7:14 of the first period. Sanford, 18, has 21 points in his second year with the Hat.

Justin Kirkland equalized midway through the second period with Myles Bell putting Kelowna ahead six minutes later, his ninth of the season.

Bowey counted his seventh and eighth snipes, eight minutes apart, in the third.

Netminder Jordon Cooke won his 12th game as the Rockets improved to 15-2-0-2. The Tigers dipped to 15-5-3-0 atop the Eastern Conference.
