Fuelled by a love of the game and the enthusiasm shown by the short mat bowlers, the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club hosted a fourth all-members tournament March 12.

Club newcomer Steve Rikley organized another great day of competition for 18 participants, who weathered the DaylightSaving Time adjustment for the early 8:30 a.m. start, said the club’s Marcia Thorneycroft.

Six teams of triples played three 10-end games, followed by playoff games for the top four teams.

Finishing in first place with an undefeated 4-0 record was the team of Svend Klausen, Pat Thomas/Kay Alexander andThorneycroft.

Second place went to the Brent Jansen team, with David Sinclair as third and Tanis Ranger as lead.

Finishing in third place was Harnam Grewal, Steve Dix and Anne Payne, while rolling into fourth place was the team of JuneKlausen, Sylvia Sinclair and Mary McCutcheon.

Coming up is an inter-club, mixed triples, short mat tournament April 1 and 2, with all games taking place in at the Oak Bayclub, located at Carnarvon Park.
