Bowlers shine in Kelowna

Lincoln Lanes youth bowlers competed in the 44th annual Fruit Bowl tournament at Capri Valley Lanes in Kelowna.

Lincoln Lanes youth bowlers competed in the 44th annual Fruit Bowl tournament at Capri Valley Lanes in Kelowna.

The big event saw each of the 16 participating teams made up of a bantam (eight-10-year-olds), junior (11-14) and senior (15-19) bowler.

The tournament was a four-game, pins over average tournament featuring teams from Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton and Chase.

Lincoln Lanes Team #4, consisting of Ryan Sarantos, Carson Christie and Kevyn Hoggard, and coached by Barb Christie, placed seventh, 77 pins over average.

Paul Schnyder’s Lincoln Lanes Team #1, made up of Sierra Merry, Shelby Merry and Grace Fontaine, placed eighth, 60 pins over average.

Four Lincoln Lanes bowlers pocketed some individual honours.

Shelby Merry had the junior girls high series with a 524; Rayne Hill’s 168 was good for junior girls high single; Fontaine won the senior girls high series with a score of 672; and Hoggard took home senior boys high series with his 911.
