The Ravensong Breakers swim team placed fifth out of 18 teams with a combined score of 1,462 points at the 11th annual Wavemaker Invitational in Saanich.
The Breakers men’s team finished in sixth place with 538 points and the women finished fourth with 924 points. In total, there were 29 swimmers from the Breakers at the three-day event, with five swimmers capturing first place finishes. Six more finished in the top three as well, with this being the first long course meet of the season and new personal bests set for the Breakers.
Ben Roberts, 10, broke Kelly Aspinall’s men’s 10 & under 100 meter backs club record time of 1:31.24, capturing first place at the same time. Camryn Stannard, 9, won the women’s 10 & under 100 meter back, beating her personal best by 13.65 seconds.
Jack Confortin, 12, won the men’s 200, 400 and 800 meter freestyle, all of which were in meet record times. Maran Kokoszka, 17, won the women’s 100 and 200 meter back. Sophie Lorette, 11, won the women’s 100 and 200 meter fly.
Top three finishes went to: Jasmine Kremer, 10, who finished third in the women’s 100 fly; Tyson Krieger, 9, finished third in the men’s 200 meter fly; Joanna Redenbach, 14, finished in second in the women’s 50-meter fly; Alex Roberts, 13, finished third in the women’s 800 free; Megan Romkes, 14, came in second in both the women’s 100 and 200 fly and Jakob Brager, 11, came in second in the men’s 50 meter back and third in the men’s 100 back
