Brookswood third in AAA girls basketball tournament

A loss to Abbotsford put the Bobcats out of contention for gold at the LEC.

The Brookswood Bobcats took bronze in the finals of the B.C. Girls Secondary Schools Basketball Championships on Saturday, beating Panorama Ridge for the podium spot.

Although strong contenders, Brookswood’s AAA senior girls team had been knocked out by Abbotsford on Friday. In the gold medal matchup, Lord Tweedsmuir beat Abbotsford.

Brookswood’s Louise Forsyth was named a First Team All-Star, and Jenna Dick was named Second Team All-Star.

It was a similar story for Langley Christian in Girls AA play, where they came third behind Seycove and Vernon secondary’s teams.

Hannah Krep of the Lightning was named a First Team All-Star and Katelyn Mallette was named to the second team.

The tournament was held at the Langley Events Centre over four days, starting on Thursday.
