The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals faltered in the third period to lose 4-2 against the Nanaimo Buccaneers in Game 2 on Thursday night (Feb. 22).

The Generals now trail 2-0 in their best-of-7 playoff series and will need to be sharper when they host the Buccaneers for Game 3 on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Oceanside Place at 7 p.m.

It was a tight game in the first two periods Thursday night.

The game was scoreless after the first period and was tied 1-1 at the end of the second.

In third period, the Generals took a penalty and that hurt them as the Buccaneers scored on the man-advantage to take a 2-1 lead. Nanaimo doubled up on a breakaway marker by Cam Nickersen at 14:33.

The Generals went on a power play late in the game but it was the Buccaneers who scored shorthanded by Trent Bell to seal the game 4-1. The Generals netted a consolation goal at 19:40 by Kyle Bosher for the final margin.

The other scorer for the Generals was Elijah Goyer while goalie Jacob Sweet took the loss at the pipes, turning away 24 of 27 shots.

Game 4 will be played on Monday, also at 7 p.m. at Oceanside Place.
