Buffie wins men’s title at AGC

Alberni Golf Course's men's club cleans up at the 2014 Alberni Auto Works Club Championship on Saturday.

The 2014 Alberni Auto Works Club Championship is in the books for the Alberni Golf Course’s men’s club.

Congratulations go to Colton Buffie, who emerged the winner, by defeating former champion Mike Pichor by two strokes. Honourable  mention goes out to the 3rd place finisher Craig Acland.

In the handicap flight first place was won by Phil Anker with a net two day score of 134, followed by Paul Saulnier at 138, who beat out Sam Parhar by retrogression. In fourth place with 140 was Jerry Swaney, fifth and sixth places were awarded to Gary Korven and Clark Crowe who tied at 141.

The closest to the pin winners for Saturday were, Gerry Blender on no. 2, Cliff O’laney on no. 4, Mike Pichor on no. 13 and on no. 17 it was Gary Korven. With the long drive on no.1 going to Ted Stewart. On Sunday closest to the pin, on no. 2 went to Livio Tedesco, on no. 4  it was Jim Rhodes, no. 13 was won by Steve Acland and on no. 17 the winner was Russ Israelsen, with the long drive on no. 1 going to Bob Turner.

There were two money pot winners on Sunday with $48 going to Darren Van Dyk for the only bird on no. 13 and $17 was won by Ted Stewart for his bird on no. 4.

Once again the Men’s Club would like to thank the Management and Staff of Alberni Auto works for their generous contribution to the Club Championship.
