Bulldogs win way into quarterfinals

NANAIMO – John Barsby Bulldogs opened defence of their AA varsity football crown against the Prince George Polars.

The John Barsby Bulldogs opened defence of their AA varsity football crown, hammering the Prince George Polars 41-0 Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Rob Stevenson said he was pleased with the shutout and the large margin of victory in his team’s 2014 playoff opener.

“The whole offensive line as a unit was fantastic and I really liked what I saw from wingback Naythan Vogt. Quarterback North Rainey was throwing some precision footballs,” Stevenson said. “Defensively, a big game from Doyl Sosnowski and again, our linebackers [played] terrific, every one of them.”

Rainey said he was pleased with the win and also complimentary of his teammates.

“Our receivers did a great job today in holding onto the balls … they (offensive line) played really well,” he said.

The Bulldogs’ next game is against the Seaquam Seahawks this Saturday (Nov. 22) at Merle Logan Field.
