Sixteen golfers hit the course Thursday at the Chilliwack Golf Club for the finale of the five-round 2018 Fred Wellsby Junior Divot Golf Tour.
The golfers, ages 16 and under, went 18 holes on a sunny summer day, vying for the Champion of Champions title.
The top three players of the day were from Abbotsford.
Twelve year old Ryan Burns walked away with the best score and the championship trophy with a two over par 74 that included birdies on holes five and six.
Tyson Dyck shot a 79 to take second place and Isaac Bedwell finished third with a score of 85.
The top female golfer was 11 year old Chilliwackian Sarah Armstrong, who carded a 96.
Abbotsford’s Hayden Lazio provided a highlight with an eagle on the sixth hole.
Nine year old Ezra Sperling shot his first eagle on hole six as well along, adding a birdie on the ninth hole for a very impressive low-gross 40 on the front nine.
Trophies this year were sponsored by the Roy Gleig Memorial Fund and sponsor Ross Candow was on hand to present the trophies to the winners.
Next year’s tournament kicks off on July 2 at Kinkora Golf Course.
