For the second year in a row, members of the Maple Ridge Burrards senior men’s lacrosse team has hoisted the National Lacrosse League’s Champion’s Cup.

Burrards Aaron Pascas and Creighton Reid were both members of the Toronto Rock squad that edged the Washington Stealth 8-7 to win professional lacrosse’s top prize Sunday afternoon.

Close to 15,000 fans packed the Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto for the game.

Pascas had three shots on goal in the championship game, while Reid managed to pick up 10 loose balls on defence, while registering one shot.

Pascas had 23 points in 15 games this season with the Rock, while Reid had four points in 10 games, with 62 loose balls.

Last season it was Tyler Codron and Joel Dalgarno who returned from NLL play as champions. The pair were members of the 2010 Washington Stealth squad that beat the Toronto Rock 15-11 to win the Champions Cup.

The Burrards had 10 players signed to NLL teams this season

Ben Davies and Dalgarno played for the Colorado Mammoth, while Greg Hinman and Curtis Dickson suited up for the Calgary Roughnecks. Dickson was named the NLL’s rookie of the year after notching 33 goals in 16 games.

Codron spent this season with the Edmonton Rush, while Jarrett Davis had 24 points in 14 games with the Rochester Knighthawks.

Burrards Sam Cook and Chris Seidel are both on the Washington Stealth’s roster, but did not see game action this season.

• The Maple Ridge Burrards start the 2011 Western Lacrosse Association season at home this Sunday against the Langley Thunder at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge. Game time is 6:45 p.m.
