If you’re looking for the perfect way to introduce your kids to the world of snowboarding, the time is now. Burton brings its popular Riglet Park to Mount Washington this weekend (March 16-17).

The Burton Riglet Park is designed for the youngest generation of snowboarders and applies the same principles of sport learning and development utilized by other popular activities.

“Kids learn to play soccer with kid-sized soccer fields, balls and goals. These factors are critical when teaching or coaching kids, regardless of the sport, and for more than 14 years Burton has been incorporating the same logic in teaching young kids to snowboard,” explains Burton’s Jeff Boliba, vice-president of Global Resort.

The Riglet Park is a kid-sized learning facility that focuses on fun and helps to ensure a successful start for beginner snowboarders as young as three years of age. The Parks contain smaller terrain features like rollers and banked turns, plus kid-sized boxes for young snowboarders to learn on.

One of the big advantages of learning in the Riglet Park is the Riglet Reel. This tool attaches to the front of a snowboard and allows instructors to gently pull new snowboarders across features, allowing them to feel the sensation of sliding within minutes of strapping on a snowboard for the first time.

The Burton Riglet Park will be open at Mount Washington, in front of the Learning Centre, this weekend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Use of the park is free of charge. Parents are encouraged to bring out their new snowboarders who are between the ages of three and six.

The Riglet Park will also be used from March 18-24 during Mount Washington’s popular Kids Camps and daily lesson programs for snowboarding. Perfect timing for Spring Break with the kids.
