Bushey banks Closed title

Jean Bushey defeated Ginger Jalonen in a two-hole playoff Wednesday to claim the Spallumcheen Ladies 2nd Closed Golf Tournament.

Jean Bushey defeated Ginger Jalonen in a two-hole playoff Wednesday to claim the Spallumcheen Ladies 2nd Closed Golf Tournament.

Both players carded 89s to force the extra holes. Colleen Schier took low net honours at 68.

Carolyn Berube produced a 91 to finish third low gross by retrogression, followed by Nancy Laframboise at 91.

Mabel Hamilton won the second flight low gross with a 91, followed by Edel Venus at 96 and Janan Tidball with 100.

Faye Viergutz won the third flight gross at 97, followed by June Mitchell at 102 and Kay Reid at 104.

The fourth flight gross prize went to Edna Little with a 102, ahead of Lou Luknowsky at 106 and Ruth Hagen at 110.

Bushey, Venus and Viergutz all recorded deuces, while Sigi Bentham, Bonnie Taylor, Celine Lockert and Little registered long drives. KPs were turned in by Jalonen, Marion O’Flynn and Jill Gerhardt.

First flight low net champion was Gloria Regier at 73 (retro), followed by Shirley White (73) and Cindy Hoffman at 75.

O’Flynn ruled the second flight with a net 70 ahead of Agnes Sakakibara at 73 and Barb Logan at 75.

Patton won the third flight at 76, followed by Marie Trentini with a 77 and Lockert at 80.

The fourth flight went to Gerhardt with a 75 ahead of Joyce Todd at 76 and Anne Kelly at 81.
