Busy year for ski club

With Mount Washington hosting a record snowfall of 517cm (the mid-mountain base is the deepest of any ski hill in the world) the Mount Washington Ski Club is in full swing and thrilled at the opportunity to begin programs early and with an increased enrolment over the 2010 ski season.

With Mount Washington hosting a record snowfall of 517cm (the mid-mountain base is the deepest of any ski hill in the world) the Mount Washington Ski Club is in full swing and thrilled at the opportunity to begin programs early and with an increased enrolment over the 2010 ski season.

Members of the ski club travel from Victoria through to Campbell River on Vancouver Island as well as from the various small islands and the Sunshine Coast and range in ages from five to 18 years old.

The Mount Washington KStar Race Program is for athletes nine to 11 years of age and is meant to give racers the necessary skills and challenges with the focus of the athletes’ attention fixed on basic technical skills and on learning overall, sports specific skills, fun and games.

The Mount Washington Ski Club has a very busy season planned this year with racers from Nancy Greene through to FIS levels travelling to races throughout mountains in B.C. and Alberta.

The club this year will also play host to the K2/J1 Slalom/Giant Slalom in January, the Annual Slalom Toy Race and the Experience the Podium Race for the MWSC Nancy Greene Athletes in February as well as play host to the week-long K1 Provincials in March.

With a newly renovated ski club cabin right at the base of Mount Washington, a record snowfall, a highly trained coaching staff, the Mount Washington Ski Club is set to see some incredible race results this year.
