Butcher caps off season with all-around bronze at Garden City

Frances Kelsey Grade 8 student Mia Butcher wrapped up a successful gymnastics season with an impressive performance at the Garden City Invitational in Victoria last weekend.

Butcher, who lives in Duncan and trains and competes with Falcon Gymnastics in Victoria, won bronze all-around and silver on the uneven bars in the Junior Olympic 7 division at the Garden City meet, which is hosted by her own club. She also placed fourth on beam, fifth on floor and seventh on vault.

Butcher had consistent top-10 finishes throughout the season, including fifth all-around and bronze on bars at Winterfest in Coquitlam; ninth all-around, seventh on bars and 10th on vault at the B.C. championships; eighth on vault at Gymnix in Montreal; and silver on bars at the Christy Fraser Invitational in Langley.
