Students from KSS were busy hauling out cords of firewood during a fundraiser to raise money for both the basketball and golf teams.

Members of both the Kwalikum Secondary School (KSS) senior boys basketball and golf teams were on hand at the Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach this past weekend getting ready to deliver firewood.

The fundraiser, which has been going on for over a month now, sees students from KSS cutting and delivering firewood to anyone looking to purchase some.

It’s an event to raise money for this year’s trip the senior boys and girls basketball teams went on to California, as well as helping out the golf team to pay their entry fees into tournaments this year.

“We’ve been at it for a little while now and we’re finally to the point now where we can start shipping a lot of this wood off for folks who can store it and have it ready for use down the road,” KSS Athletic Director Butch Gayton said.

“We owe a huge thanks to Gord Melissa here at Pheasant Glen for donating the wood and to Brian Slater at Windsor Plywood in Qualicum Beach for donating the wood splitter.”

For those looking to purchase a cord of firewood ($150), you can contact Butch Gayton at KSS 250-752-5651, extension number 160.
