The Vernon Buy-Low Vixens shaded the host Merritt Prowlers 2-1 Sunday to repeat as champions of the Queens on Ice Hockey Tournament.
The Vixens decided to go with a short bench of 10, including goalie Michelle Embleton, d-men Cheryl Meier, Leah Mulvihill, Kelly Bosco, Christine Bosworth, and forwards Edeen Ramsey, Amy Irvine, Lee Hamilton, Jen Spitzer, Cassie Bosworth and Morgan Zoethout.
Irvine opened the Buy-Low attack on the first shift of the final, while Mulvihill scored the winner with 53 seconds remaining.
Buy-Low lost a heartbreaking opener 3-2 to the Kamloops Coyotes with Kamloops netting the winner in the final minute. Zoethout bagged both Vixen snipes.
However, the Vixens dug deep and went on to win their next two games with a balanced attack to reach the final against the favoured Prowlers, icing Merritt For Real 9-1 and ambushing Merritt Thrashers 10-0.
Buy-Low game MVPs were Ramsey, Bosco, Cassie Bosworh, Irvine, and Mulvihill. The Vixens are coached by Patrick Stewart.
