A 13 year old Air Cadet from Aldergrove won the silver at the B.C. Championship Cadet Biathlon on the weekend.

Emmanuel Bussani enjoyed a great performance at the annual event, held at Whistler Olympic Park on Sunday, Feb. 15. Out of a large field of army, navy and air cadets from across B.C. Bussani had the second best time in the sport which combines skate skiing and shooting.

The event involves skiing the course three times and shooting two sets of five rounds in between the skiing.

Bussani joined the Abbotsford Air Cadets last year specifically because he wanted to compete in biathlon. He and his three siblings were brought up in a skiing family, as his mother Lori brings her children along four times a week to her work on the ski patrol at Mt. Baker and Cypress.

“Emmanuel has had his sights on this for many years,” says Lori, noting that 12 is the minimum age for joining cadets.
