The Caledonia Classic Dogsled Races will once again start from Cottonwood Park this year.
Organizers had been looking at relocating the race start due to low snowpack on the lake, but have decided to keep the race start in the same location.
The stage races have been adjusted slightly,
Day one they will run Whitefish loop (top loop), day two is the Mortenson loop, and day three will be the fuel tank loop. The stage teams will only run the lake from Cottonwood Beach to Sowchea bay Provincial Park boat launch on the way out and back.
The races are set to start on Feb. 22, and will be a similar format to previous years, with four-dog, six-dog and 10-dog sprints, a 150 km stage race, politician race and kids races.
The majority of the races take place on Feb. 23, with the stage race taking place over the three days.
The cash prize purse for the entire weekend is $14,000 with $3,500 going towards the winner of the 150 km stage race.
The first race on Saturday will start at 9:00 a.m., and continuing through the day until 1:30 p.m..
Races on Sunday begin again at 9 a.m. and the last start time is at 1 p.m..
The Caledonia Classic races have been going on for 17 years and draw mushers from across North America.
