Cameron scores twice to lead Eagles to victory

Surrey Eagles sit with 1-1 at Western Canada Cup; prepare to play Nanaimo Tuesday night

The Surrey Eagles are back to an even record at the Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup after a 5-3 win over the Steinbach Pistons Monday night in Nanaimo.

Eagles forward Trevor Cameron led the charge for the Peninsula crew, scoring twice, while Brady Shaw – who opened the scoring just over one minute into the game – Adam Tambellini and Michael Stenerson also scored for the victors.

Steinbach, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champs, got goals from Nick Kobelka, Trent Genyk and Kyle Rous.

The Eagles now sit with a 1-1 round-robin record after opening the tournament Saturday with a loss to the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Brooks Bandits. The Eagles face off against their BC Hockey League rival Nanaimo Clippers tonight (Tuesday).
