The Vernon Kal Tire Canadians lost 4-3 in extra innings to Rutland in the Okanagan Spring Classic Under 13 baseball tournament final at Lombardy Park in Kelowna.

Carter Morris was named final MVP as he pitched five innings, struck out seven and scored a run at the plate.

Ryan Gamage got a free RBI as he picked up a bases loaded walk in the fifth. The Canadians rolled over the Nanaimo Pirates 11-3 in Sunday morning’s semifinal.

Batchelor went the distance for the Canadians as he K’d six Pirates while surrendering three runs and was named game and tournament MVP.

It took five innings for the Canadian offence to heat up. Gamage doubled to left field in the fifth to score Ryan Vandesande and Brayden Beacom.

Morris drilled one to centre field, bringing around Gamage and Batchelor. The Canadians busted it open in the sixth when Landen Harison’s double scored Hansen and Eric Foufoulas.
