Up 4-1 and six outs away from advancing to the semifinals, the Langley Blaze instead surrendered three runs in the top of the sixth and then gave up another pair in the top of the seventh to fall 6-4.

The Blaze were facing the Abbotsford Cardinals on Saturday at Coquiltam’s Mundy Park, site of the BC Premier Baseball League championships.

All of Langley’s offence came in the fifth inning as the team scored four runs despite getting just one hit in the inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly from Cole Cantelon, twice more on wild pitches and one on a hit batter.

In the Blaze’s other games, they edged Abbotsford 2-1 in the opener, lost 9-1 to the Parksville Royals and finished the round robin with a 3-2 win over the Coquitlam Reds.

In the playoff round, Langley lost 9-3 to the North Shore Twins and then fell 6-4 to the Cardinals.

The Twins defeated Parksville 4-3 in the championship final of the five-team event.
