Cariboo Archers and Junior Olympic Program archers were dominant during the weekend when the Quesnel River Archers hosted their annual Goldpan 1200 Indoor Target Shoot.

“All archers shot two, 300-point rounds [30 arrows] per day for a total of 1,200 arrows,” said Cariboo Archer and JOP coach Al Campsall.

In total 10 Cariboo Archers, including eight JOP participants, attended from Williams Lake.

“All of us shot well and numerous B.C. records were beaten,” Campsall said.

In the pre-cub girls compound 12 and under division, Joelle Thurow beat her previous B.C. record by 165 points to take the top spot.

Right behind in second place was Emersyn Sanford, who also beat Joelle’s previous B.C. record, while third place went to Taryn Hinsche.

On the pre-cub boys compound side, Ty Waterhouse finished second, James Tattrie was third and Joshua Tattrie claimed fourth.

Brityn Hinsche, in the cub girls compound class, meanwhile, brought home a gold medal, as did Ty Thurow — who beat his own B.C. record by 24 points — in the cub boys compound category.

In the senior men’s compound unlimited class it was Bob Thurow taking top honours, while Campsall — who beat his own B.C. record by four points — finished first overall in the masters men’s compound division.

“All of our kids shot very well,” Campsall said.

“We’re proud of their progress.”
