Division 1 Oak Bay rugby continues with a blast this week with the Castaway Wanderers on the road playing cross-town rivals the James Bay Athletic Association. Head to MacDonald Park on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. to show your support for your local boys.
At the University of Victoria’s Wallace Field, the UVic Norsemen welcome the Port Alberni Black Sheep, with game time starting at 1 p.m.
In women’s Premier League play, the Castaway women host Burnaby Lake at Windsor Park, with kick-off at 11:30 a.m.
The Victoria Cougars start one of their slower weeks on the road this Saturday, Nov. 28 when they take on the Comox Valley Glacier Kings at 7:30 p.m.
The local squad returns home Thursday, Dec. 3 when they host the Westshore Wolves at 7 p.m. at Archie Browning Rec Centre.
While UVic’s men’s and women’s basketball teams both hit the road to Lethbridge this weekend, the Vikes men’s field hockey squad is at home, hosting the West Vancouver Hawks at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 at the UVic Field Hockey Turf.
In the pool, Vikes swimmers vie for gold at the Canada West Championship, Nov. 27 to 29 at the University of British Columbia Aquatic Centre.
Victoria Minor Ball Hockey is now accepting applications for head and assistant coaches in all divisions for the 2016 season. Those interested can visit www.vmbh.ca. Applications will be accepted until Jan. 15.
Player registration is also underway.
Lower Island Women’s Soccer Premier-level play continues tonight (Friday, Nov. 27) when the Castaway Highlanders host the Vancouver Island Wave at PISE, kicking off at 8 p.m.
On the men’s side, Vancouver Island Soccer League Division 1 action continues on Friday, Nov. 27 with Bays United Liquor Plus facing Saanich Fusion FC Maude Hunters at 8 p.m. at UVic.
Victoria men’s field hockey kicks off the week on Sunday, Nov. 29 when the Rebels 2 play Marauders at 9 a.m., the Rebels 1 play Oak Bay at 10:30 a.m. and the Hawks play the Tigers at 2 p.m.
A busy day of women’s field hockey league play comes to UVic Saturday, Nov. 28.
The Cardinals play the Blue Jays and Lynx 2 plays the Sailors, both at 9:30 a.m., the Stellers play Renegades at 11 a.m., the Kestrels play the Ravens at 12:30 p.m., and the Flickers play the Lynx 1 at 2 p.m.
Rounding out the day, Lynx 3 faces the Demons at 3:30 p.m. and the Pirates play Devils at 5 p.m.
A lone women’s game Sunday, Nov. 29 has the Patriots play the Mariners at 3:30 p.m., while on Wednesday, Dec. 2, the Flickers host Lynx 1 at 6:30 p.m.
