It’s time to think about fall salmon fishing.

The Mid-Island Castaways Fly Fishing Club is holding its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Qualicum Beach Community Centre, where the Saturday Farmer’s Market is held at 644 Memorial Ave. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker is Adrian Clarke, VP of Science for the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC. His topic will be about ‘Freshwater Stocking, Research and Conservation in B.C.’

The Castaways is a fishing club dedicated to promoting not only fly fishing, but also conservation and environmental enhancement.

The club features fish-outs, which bring members together to fish and learn from each other. As well, there are opportunities for members to learn fly tying and casting.

Aimee Cox is one of the club’s fly casting instructors. The club is open to all, men and women, accomplished fly fishers or novices.

For further information on the club check the website https://www.midislandcastaways.com/
