The Castlegar Aquanauts performed well at a meet in Kimberley this past weekend.

With 16 athletes attending this meet, the Aquanauts achieved 25 best times and six meet records. The small but strong team performed well and we had some athletes embrace the Disney theme as coach Doug Van Ek and Cayden Cooke dressed up as Minnie Mouse and Tinkerbell.

Our medal winners consisted of Hazel Johnson – bronze, Ethan Marshall – bronze, Avery Cooke – silver, Claire Cartwright – gold, Bryce Anderson – gold, Cayden Cooke – bronze, Ethan Lawczynski – silver, Emma Lawczynski – gold and Doug Van Ek – gold. We had nine of the 16 athletes medal at this meet, a great showing for the Castlegar Aquanauts.

This upcoming week the Aquanauts will decrease their training in preparation for the Kootenay Regional Championships in Nelson. This is the qualifying swim meet for Provincials that will be swum in Kamloops this summer mid-August.

The Aquanauts are ready for the competition and the coaching staff is excited to see some more best times at this meet.
