The final three games in the West Central Senior C Lacrosse League regular season will likely determine the playoff destiny of the Mission Cedar Kings.
After a break over Canada Day long weekend, the Cedar Kings returned to action on Sunday but fell 7-5 to the Port Coquitlam Hitmen in Port Moody.
Gavan Sand (two), Brenton Graham (two) and Cody Thompson scored goals in a losing cause.
The setback drops Mission’s record to eight wins, seven losses and one overtime loss, and they remain in fourth place in the WCSCLL.
The Cedar Kings get another shot at the Hitmen on Saturday in Port Coquitlam, and then take on the Richmond Roadrunners in Langley on Sunday.
The big news for local fans is that the Cedar Kings will close out the season inside the Mission Leisure Centre on Tuesday against the Ridge Attack.
Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the north rink. Admission to the game is free.
“It’s going to be a big one at home to close out the season,” stated Cam Slater of the Cedar Kings. “It’s going to have some playoff implications on the line so hopefully the fans come out and get extra loud.”
Mission can finish anywhere from third to ninth depending on what happens in the club’s final three games and what other teams in the league do. The top six teams in the WCSCLL will advance to the playoffs, which begin later this month.
