The Mission Cedar Kings keep on winning and have now risen to the top of the West Central Senior C Lacrosse League.
Mission picked up a pair of wins over the weekend, and now have a record of six wins, one loss and one overtime loss. They are now tied for top spot in the league with Port Moody.
The Cedar Kings kicked off the weekend with a 12-2 thrashing of the Burnaby Lakers in Langley on Saturday.
Tony Corbin led the way with four goals and one assist, while the Cedar Kings also had two-goal games from Cody Thompson and Steve Aldcroft. Brenton Graham had one goal to go along with three assists, and Mission also got goals from Gavan Sand, Tyler Voisey and Branden Bloom.
John Makowsky added a pair of assists, while goalie Jeff Lissimore made 17 saves for the win.
The Cedar Kings dominated most of the game against Burnaby, leading 4-0 after one and 9-0 after two.
Mission returned to action on Sunday in Langley, and picked up a 7-6 overtime win over the Port Coquitlam Hitmen.
The back-and-forth contest saw the teams tied at two after one, and the Hitmen jumped out to a 5-3 lead after two.
The Cedar Kings tied the game at five, but then fell behind only to have Makowsky send the game to overtime with three minutes to go.
Makowsky was the overtime hero, scoring eight seconds into the extra frame to give Mission the win.
Cedar Kings goal scorers were: Makowsky (three), Thompson, Graham, Aldcroft and Tony Corbin. Lissimore again earned the win with 32 saves.
Next up for the Cedar Kings is a rematch against the North Shore Indians on Saturday in Port Coquitlam. Faceoff is scheduled for 8:45 p.m.
