Chargers chasing spot at golf nationals

The Camosun Chargers men’s golf team at the Douglas College Invitational in Delta on Saturday and Sunday.

The Camosun Chargers men’s golf team reclaimed the second qualifying spot for the PING CCAA Nationals with a third-place finish at the Douglas College Invitational at Kings Links in Delta on Saturday and Sunday.

Now the Chargers just need to hold on to second as the team readies for the  fourth and final PACWEST tounament of the season at the Okanagan Golf Club, hosted by UBC-Okanagan , Oct. 4-5 in Kelowna.

The Chargers finished 12 strokes ahead of fourth-place VIU Mariners at Kings Links. It broke a standing tie between the two teams in the 2014 PACWEST conference standings. The Chargers are 26 strokes back of first-place Fraser Valley and 12 up on third-place Malaspina.

Jarred Callbeck (Claremont) led the Chargers with an eighth-place finish amongst individuals.
