The Duncan Christian School Chargers are off to the single-A boys provincial volleyball championships after taking the Island title in a three-team showdown at the DCS gym on Tuesday.
Both the Chargers and the Chemainus Cougars swept their opening matches over Campbell River Christian (25-11, 25-11, 25-16 and 25-11, 25-15, 25-19, respectively), setting up a winner-take-all battle in the last match of the round robin.
The Chargers prevailed over the Cougars 25-12, 25-18, 25-16 in that contest.
Adam Kapteyn of DCS was named Island MVP, while his teammates Matt and Mike Brandsma were selected to the tournament all-star team along with Nathaniel White of Chemainus and Josiah Wickens of Campbell River.
Next up for the Chargers is the provincial championship tournament in Abbotsford on Nov. 26-28.
