With 48 goals in 54 games during the WHL’s regular season, Rourke Chartier is best known for his scoring touch.
On Saturday, the Canadian Hockey League honoured the Kelowna Rockets’ centre for one of his other attributes.
On the eve of the Memorial Cup final in Quebec City, the Saskatoon native was named the CHL’s most sportsmanlike player of the year.
Chartier, who was second on the Rockets this season with 82 points, accrued just 18 minutes in penalties in 2014-15.
The 19-year-old Saskatoon native, in his third season with Kelowna, was chosen over Kyle Farrell of the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, and Dylan Strome of the OHL’s Erie Otters.
In 188 career regular season games with Kelowna, Chartier has amassed 170 points on 85 goals and 85 assists.
