Tony Cheshire used cat-like reflexes to score twice as Vernon Kal Tire brushed back the Summerland Rockets 6-1 in Okanagan Oldtimers 50+ Soccer League play Thursday night at Shannon Woods Field in West Kelowna.
Cheshire neatly redirected a corner by Rob Parkin, which was first touched by Denis Chabot. The Manchester United fan then finished an unselfish feed from Roger Irving on a 2-on-1 breakaway. Cheshire was named the Buckingham Palace Fish & Chips Man of the Match.
Jenne Huberts also bagged a deuce as the Tiremen improved to 8-2.
Parkin and Kevin Mitchell added singles, while Bill Clark spoiled Gordie Campbellās bid for a second-half shutout. Campbell made back-to-back fabulous saves off Peter Toth corkers from in tight. Irving earned the first-half clean sheet.
