Chick Kickers OMG tame top-seeded Mud Sharks

The Chick Kickers OMG downed the first-place Do-Itt Drywall Mud Sharks 1-0.

The Chick Kickers OMG downed the first-place Do-Itt Drywall Mud Sharks 1-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Division 2 play Thursday night at Marshall Field #2.

The Mud Sharks (7-1-1) controlled the majority of possession despite having nine players.

Wendy Nadeau made several huge saves for OMG (2-8-1), and looked much like Mexico’s keeper, Guillermo Ochoa.

The Drywall were hanging tough all game until the ageless midfielder Monica Holubowski booted a long, high ball into the top corner of the net in the second half.

Sistas cream Centreline

The OTC/Sunterra Sistas stifled the Centerline Attack  9-0 at Marshall Field #4.

The Sistas (7-1-1) were led by Cassandra Otto’s two goals and two helpers, while Diane Neudorf and Marisa Wiebe each sniped a  pair and singles went to Carmen Kinniburgh, Andrea Zubot and Nicole Williams.

Neudorf and Crystal Flasch shared the keeping duties.

Jody Townshend and Mandy Erwin consistently played solid the entire game for the Attack (1-8).Outside fullback Jackie Cote had some tough lines drives to contend with, yet managed to keep the ball to the outside and proved a formidable barrier on defence.

Other scores from around Division 2 did not get submitted.

Bopp’s hatty sparks Silver Stars

Wolfgang Bopp pulled the hat trick as the Vernon Silver Stars grounded Penticton United 3-1 in Okanagan Men’s 55+ Soccer League play Thursday night.

Bopp converted a pair of penalty kicks as the Stars improved to 9-0-1.

The Kelowna Kickers at Vernon Kal Tire game was postponed since the Kickers could not field a team.

Division 1 soccer had the week off due to Canada Day and will resume Tuesday.
