The Eagles Alumni Field Hockey Fundraiser will be hosted at Agassiz Secondary School on April 26, by alumna Lauren Nickerson and Karina Lanting. Equipment will be provided by the school, but players are asked to come dressed for the weather and safety (ie. mouthguard, shin guards, etc).
To cut any administrative costs, they are looking for past players to be involved any way they would like. That could mean participating in a game, volunteering their time as a ref, or helping organize teams on the day of the event.
As a participation fee, each player is asked to bring a care package containing new items from the list provided via their Facebook page. The donations collected will go to benefit the Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley. This organization provides vital assistance to women, youth and children affected by domestic violence.
In addition to the player donations, they will be selling raffle tickets during the Agassiz Basketball Alumni Tournament on April 11 and 12. Some prizes include a spa package, boat cruise and a couple rounds of golf.
Games and tournament structure will be dependent upon number of participants. They hope to have a large turnout of past players as well as spectators and ask that players RSVP before April 14 by emailing klanting@projectk.ca. More details will be available as the weeks pass and all alumni are encouraged to visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/AESSchickswithsticks.
