Chiefs grab grit in Salmon Arm trade

Jared Turcotte doesn't post big offensive numbers, but brings a mix of skill and toughness.

The Chilliwack Chiefs have acquired a veteran forward in a trade with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Twenty year old Jared Turcotte was picked up in return for future considerations and will bring his gritty game to Prospera Centre in 2017-18.

The California kid has played 115 regular season and 11 playoff games in the BCHL. Last season the six-foot-one and 190 pounder had 13 goals and 29 points in 58 games.

He added 97 penalty minutes and while he may not be a carbon copy of Ryan Forbes or Linden Hora, he brings that sandpaper element that Chilliwack head coach/general manager Jason Tatarnic loves.

“He’s a player I tried to play for last year because he’s stood out to me every time we played Salmon Arm,” Coach T noted. “Jared plays a hard up-and-down game. He’s physical but he’s got a good skill-set, all the tools to be a real good player.

“And he’s someone who goes out, leads by example and tries to get others to follow him, and we thought it was important to add a player like that to our group.”
