The Kelowna Chiefs weren’t prepared to go quietly into the Christmas break.
Down 5-1 after just 20 minutes of play against the North Okanagan Knights, the Chiefs could have simply packed it in Saturday night at Rutland Arena.
Instead, Kelowna rallied for five unanswered goals en route to a 6-5 win, hitting the KIJHL’s holiday break on a high note.
Jonathan Lee netted the game winner on a power play with 6:15 remaining in the third period.
Josh Kobelka scored twice, including the tying goal in the third period, while Braeden Cyra added four assists, as the Chiefs head into the break with a 14-17-2-1 record.
A night earlier, Kelowna dropped a 6-4 contest in Osoyoos to the Okanagan Division-leading Coyotes.
Kobelka had a big night for the Chiefs with two goals and two assists, while Cyra added a goal and two helpers.
The Chiefs are off now until the New Year, before returning to action Friday, Jan. 2 against the Princeton Posse. The following night, the North Okanagan Knights will visit Rutland Arena. Game time both nights is 7 p.m.
