A four-goal deficit was too much to overcome.
The Langley Chiefs spotted the visiting Nanaimo Clippers a 4-0 lead 15 minutes into Thursday night’s B.C. Hockey League junior A contest and could not recover.
The Chiefs did make a game of it, but ultimately fell short, losing 5-4 at the Langley Events Centre.
Samuel Labrecque, Brett Hartskamp, Kyle Kramer and Myles Fitzgerald struck in the first period for Nanaimo.
Trevor Gerling and Mike Tebbutt responded in the middle frame to pull the Chiefs within two goals heading into the third.
But Victor Newell made the score 5-2, before Gerling and Josh Myers pulled the Chiefs back to within a goal.
Myers’ goal came with just 36 seconds remaining.
