Ex-Chilliwack Chiefs Luke Esposito and Philip Zielonka helped the Harvard Crimson hockey squad break a 24 year drought, winning the team’s first Beanpot Tournament title since 1993.

The annual tournament has been won by either Boston University or Boston College every year since Harvard last claimed the crowd.

On Monday, Esposito’s team out-shot the Boston U Terriers 46-17, cruising to a 6-3 win.

Esposito scored a goal in the victory while Zielonka had an assist.

Espo, a fourth-year senior with the Crimson, had a goal and an assist last Tuesday as Harvard opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over Northeastern. The Connecticut native was fourth in BCHL scoring during his one season in Chilliwack, tallying 17 goals and 71 points in 55 games during the 2012-13 campaign. Zielonka, also in his fourth year at Harvard, played 21 games for the Chiefs during the 2012-13 season.
