Chilliwack’s Kate Stuart has made the Female U-18 Team B.C. roster that will compete at the 2017 National Women’s U-18 Championship, running Nov. 1-5 in Quebec City, QC.
Stuart was in Richmond for a selection camp this past weekend.
The goaltender participated in on-and-off-ice drills and suited up for four exhibition games, two apiece against the University of British Columbia women’s team and the Chinese national team.
Her team won three of four, including 1-0 and 4-2 wins over the Chinese.
The final Team B.C. roster is 20 players strong and will now start preparing to face Saskatchewan in their national opener on Nov. 1.
“We are excited to have such an amazing team of players and staff heading to Quebec in November,” said Team B.C. head coach, Graham Thomas. “We are confident that this group will continue to build on the successes Team BC has experienced at the National Women’s U18 Championship in recent years.”
“We are looking forward to competing amongst the top provincial teams in Canada this year in Quebec City,” added B.C. Hockey Female Program of Excellence Coordinator, Whitney Juszkiewicz. “Team B.C. has an experienced staff and cohesive roster with depth and hockey knowledge.
“The road to nationals has been a very promising journey and we look to have one of our best showings yet.”
