Chilliwack Hawks rough up Mission Mud Dawgs in field lacrosse action

Bumped down to a lower-level cohort, the U11 Hawks are taking out their frustration on foes

The Chilliwack Hawks are back in action, bringing field lacrosse excitement to local fields.

Here’s what happened the weekend of Oct. 17-18.

U11 tier one boys

This squad continues to play with a chip on their shoulder after being placed in a lower-tiered cohort, and the final score in this one was 19-0 Chilliwack over the Mission Mud Dawgs. Through two games this team has allowed just two shots and no goals against. A defensive group that includes Riley Charlton, Kruz Luis and Ashton Osell has been unbeatable so far. Standouts in this game were Sebastian Saunders (five goals/two assists) Kieren Dartnell (four goals/four assists) and Grayson Mouritzen (five goals/one assist).

U11 tier three boys

In their second game of the season, a team made up of eight underage (U9) players and five first years had an impressive showing against the Surrey Warriors’ top squad. The Hawks out-shot and out-played Surrey but couldn’t solve the goalie. Standouts were U9 players Max Crompton and Ezra Bosma, each with a goal and a number of excellent plays. The final score was 5-2 for Surrey.

U12 women

Led by rookie goalie Olivia Causton, the Hawks played extremely well in their first-ever game. They had to battle adversity before the season started, as the league deemed their brand new @signature lacrosse sticks illegal for not being on the world approved list. Using brand-new borrowed sticks for the first time was difficult and the team couldn’t find the back of the net. But, they were very impressive with their defensive play. Standouts for the game were Causton, defensive player Makinlee Johnston and offensive player Macie Svehla. The final score was 10-0 for Maple Ridge, but four of those goals are in protest due to Maple Ridge using the same illegal sticks Chilliwack was forbidden to use.
