A Chilliwack baseball player has helped pitched a team from Whalley into the Canadian Little League Championships.
Twelve year old Zaeden Pleasants lives in Chilliwack but travels to Surrey every day to play Little League ball.
Last weekend, Pleasants and his team bused to Trail to play in the Major-division provincials.
After losing their first game by a 5-3 count to Lynn Valley, Pleasants’ crew won their next four round-robin games. Pleasants pitched three scoreless innings along the way.
Whalley advanced to the tournament final with a 6-2 whomping of Little Mountain and captured the championship (and revenge) Saturday by beating Lynn Valley 6-1.
Pleasants and his team now travel to Mirabel, Quebec this week to play in the 2018 nationals.
The tournament starts Thursday and continues through to Aug. 11, with seven teams in the field. The hosts from Mirabel plus Team B.C. are joined by teams from Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and the Atlantic.
