Fall was definitely in the air on Tuesday, Sept. 4, as 45 ladies took to the course for our next to last Ladies Night. The day started sunny and comfortable…not warm…but certainly comfortable. As the game progressed we started to “layer up”. First the sweaters came out. Then the jackets. A few folks were wishing they had brought their gloves and earmuffs. By the time our round, our supper and our meeting were finished we were downright chilly.

The meeting was brief with some discussion about future plans, some thank yous, an election, and a few calls of “hurry up, I am freezing”. Debbie Rainer and Leslie Stirling were returned as Captain and Secretary/Treasurer. Some say they were returned to office by acclamation. I say we were hornswoggled. But to be perfectly honest, we wouldn’t keep doing it if we weren’t enjoying ourselves.

My game was not one of my best but many others had a great round. Flight 1 low gross winner was Jan Advent with a score of 41 while Susan Newberry won low net with a 49 (35.5). In Flight 2 Fiona Clare picked up low gross with a 48 followed closely by Deb Legaree with a 49 that earned her low net. Flight 3 winners were Jeannie Webber (low gross by retro) and Betty Baillie (low net). Both golfers had a score of 54. The low gross winner in Flight 4 was Jessica Thompson with a 54 followed by Lois McInnis with a 61.

The pots were totally wiped out. Marla Hajmerle won the Deuce pot. Dorothy Warman won the Chip In pot. Jan Advent and Deb Legaree shared the Birdie pot. Calculations were much easier than last week for the treasurer and she did appreciate it. Donna Salle made good use of her putter (15) to win the Least Putt prize while Doreen Landry used her putter the most (27).

Winners of the Long Drive in 2 on Hole 2 were Leslie Stirling, Wanda Amos, Marla Muldoon and Deb Rainer. The Long Drivers on Hole 5 were Cindy Leibel, Ilke Marais, Evelyn Lucas and Jen Amos. Those folks making the Long Putts were Lorie Chambers, Jessica Thompson, Louise Lodge, Babes Shanko, Carol Hindle and Darlene Nickull. The KP prizes went to Cindy Leibel, Fiona Clare (2), Doreen Landry, Lois McInnis, Marian (Slammer) Wallace, Val Williams and Suzanne Price. The KP in 2 people on Hole 7 were Deb Rainer and Betty Baillie.

And of course, all of this frivolity and winning of prizes wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors. This week I would like to thank Gift ‘n Gab, High 5 Diner, Mane Street Hair, Munro’s Clothing Co., North Thompson Star/Journal, Rainer Custom Cutting, Sam’s Pizza, Station House Restaurant, Subway/Little Fort Store and Val Bella Studio. Thank you to all our sponsors who not only support Ladies Golf but many, many other community causes, events and clubs. We are fortunate to have such a generous business community and I hope you will join me in showing our appreciation.
