March Meadows Senior Men

There was a fine turn out of over forty players for the Tuesday, July 26, meeting of the March Meadows Senior Men. There were some good scores and a few balls awarded.

Closest to the cup on number one went to Mike Morgan, and Earl La Forge was closest on number seven. Birdies were holed by Jug Kalar, Earl La Forge and Bob Vessey. Eric Olson chipped in for his bird.

Chip-in pars go to Jug Kalar, Rock Wise, Cyril Krausnick, John Barger, Daryl Proulx, and John White. Low gross went to Earl La Forge. There was a three way tie for low net. It required a “count back” to determine Brian Crossen the winner.

With only two more months of regular play remaining, the barrel remained undefeated.

August started with a good turn out for the March Meadows Senior Men, Tuesday, August 2. It was also a busy meeting, as along with the regular round of golf, it was skills day.

The regular play winners included Graeme Cockle for closest to the hole on number one and Rocky Wise on number seven.

Birdies were scored by Ray Bourassa, Ray Owens, Rick Nott and Jamie Robbson with two. Jug Kalar chipped in for his bird. Bob Leach made two sandy pars. Bob also knew the slogan (Play hard, play fair, have fun).

Low Gross went to Earl La Forge and low net to William Dunsto.

In the skills part of the play Jamie Robbson had the longest drive, Bob Ringheim had chipped pot of the sand a landed closet to the pin.

Phil Jones had the best long putt and Earl La Forge chipped over an obstacle and landed closest to the pen. Jug Kalar had the best second shot to the green and Jack Ringheim had the best drive to the centre of the fairway.

This day also saw the Barrel go down in defeat. It was a long campaign but Clark Ferguson won the battle. Well done. And so the next round begins.

I can airmail the golf ball, but sometimes I don’t put the right address on it.
