Both Clearwater teams came home with gold medals from U12 and U16 provincials held in Prince George over the weekend.
There were six U12 teams but only three U16 teams. This resulted the U16 teams playing against the U18s and U19s in the round robin.
On Friday, July 7, Clearwater U16 won against U18 Smithers 13-8 and then beat the Smithers U16 team 9-1.
Clearwater lost against U18 Sooke 5-12.
On Saturday Clearwater played Smithers U16 and won 14-3.
Clearwater U16 played Smithers in the finals, winning the gold medal game 15-2.
Lightning delays U12 game
Clearwater U12s played Williams Lake in their first game and won 30-3.
Next game was against 100 Mile House. Clearwater was leading 4-2 going into the third inning but the game had to be called due to a severe lightning storm. The game resumed on Saturday morning and ended with an 11-3 victory for Clearwater.
The local squad’s next game was against Prince George, which they won 20-7.
On Sunday Clearwater played Merritt and won 12-6.
This was followed by another win against 100 Mile in the semi-finals, with a score of 12-3.
Clearwater met with 100 Mile for the third time on the weekend in the final game on Sunday. Clearwater beat 100 Mile again, this time with a score of 14-4, taking home the gold medal and the U12 provincial banner.
