The Nanaimo Clippers hope to hand the Cowichan Valley Capitals a couple of lumps of coal this week.
Nanaimo’s B.C. Hockey League team closes out 2014 with games against Cowichan on Friday (Dec. 19) at Frank Crane Arena and then at Duncan’s Island Savings Centre the next night.
“Our game’s in a really good spot right now,” said Blake Clement, Clippers assistant coach. “We were short a few guys [last week] and the guys competed really hard and some guys stepped up for us. It was a good message sent to us from our team that we can win, it doesn’t matter who’s in the lineup.”
The coming Christmas break can be a distraction, but Clippers coaches will try to keep their guys focused and sharp against a capable opponent.
“They’re a pretty good team, they work hard also and they’ve obviously beat us before so we have to play a really good game here,” Clement said.
GAME ON … The Clips and Caps face off Friday at 7 p.m.
