Close clashes in Cowichan U10 flag football

Red and Blue fought to the finish in a close battle last Saturday in Cowichan Bulldogs U10 flag football.

Blue started the game strong with a hand-off to Jacob Bilina who ran the ball the entire length of the field to score, followed by another exciting run by Easton Jubenville. Zoe Billings’s perfect snaps set the table for Blue, and on defence, she put pressure on the Red quarterback. The snakelike reflexes of Oliver Gibbs on defence put plenty of pressure on Red.

Red got their first touchdown from Parker Jubenville, who then gave his team a brief lead with a safety. Ryder Maertz prevented a touchdown by chasing down Red’s Bilina and diving to get the flag. Cody Williams appeared to score a touchdown

for Red, but had it called back on a diving penalty. Trailing by eight points, Billings handed the ball to Geise, who ran from end zone to end zone to score, but his team couldn’t make the extra point.

Yellow and Green also played to a close result, with Matteo Breckenridge’s diving flags setting the tone for Yellow.
